By  |

Prada has commissioned architects to design its first flagship store in Johannesburg, the Italian fashion house is now tapping into new markets in a quest to expand its global reach. The company has opened a flagship store in an 8,611-square-feet retail space in Johannesburg inside of the “Diamond Walk” luxury wing of the Sandton City mall. The brand already has a presence in Africa, with multiple glamorous boutiques in Morocco, but this is the brand’s first flagship store in South Africa. The boutique will sell men’s and women’s wear designs, handbags, accessories and footwear.

Prada commissioned Robert Baciocchi to design this Johannesburg boutique. The store includes green fabric-lined walls, velvet sofas, the brand’s trademark checkerboard flooring, crystal tables and dozens of dazzling mirrors.
