A few days ago, Brandon Maxwell released bombshell visuals to his new Pre-Spring collection, and it featured fabulous Nigerian model Mayowa Nicholas. After taking a break because of the pandemic, Brandon notes that he had a moment to think past the fast pace of the fashion calendar, and create a collection her actually liked.
In an Instagram post, he explained, “One day, after three straight months inside my house, I woke up, walked to the park, sat on a blanket with a bag of fabrics and my headphones, and chose colors, textures, and combinations that made me happy. I didn’t push myself to make more than I felt like I could in the moment, and when I finished the last look I said to everyone “I think that’s it, let’s stop there.” And that felt really great.”
His collection is full of bold bright colours, a contrast between soft and preppy silhouettes and some colour blocking here and there. He describes the collection as “colorful, joyous, and optimistic” and we agree that more of this mood is needed!
