Our Favourite Looks From The Pyer Moss Couture Collection

Most known for being the designer behind Kamala Harris’ iconic Inauguration Coat, Pyer Moss is a designer taking the world by storm. He came guns blazing to the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week with lots of flair. The designer, who was showcasing at the Couture Fashion Week for the first time, decided to stage his show at the mansion of America’s first black self-made millionaire, Madame C.J. Walker. It was his way of incorporating that little bit of black history and excellence into his work.

“We are an invention inside of an invention. Inside of the creation of race, we made blackness. Uprooted from home and put in a foreign land, we made culture. And when they tried to strip our humanity, we made freedom so tethered to each other that it still shapes the world today,” read the show’s notes.

The collection, titled ‘What U Iz’ is a commentary on erasure of Black culture, and used fabric as well as 3D shapes to emphasize his point. Here we chose our favourite looks of the collection, take a look!
