MTV Video Music Awards Happened Last Night, Here’s What You Might Have Missed

Last night the long awaited VMA awards happened and it was something else! From the outlandish looks, to fiery stage performances and the accolades, they were the music award show to watch.

Let’s start with fashion, shall we? VMA’s is known for more outlandish and creative kind of fashion both on the carpet and the stage. These are musicians we’re dealing with, so no cute princessy gowns here. If someone can wear an orange as an outfit in their music video what tells you they’ll try to be normal out in public? With the performances we saw a lot of black girl magic, with newcomer Lizzo shaking things up and Megan Thee Stallion wrapping up the summer with her pre awards show performance.

The coveted video vanguard award went to Missy Elliott (rightfully so) for all the crazy music videos she has released over the years. It was her night. Other winners included Lil Nas X, Taylor Swift, Normani, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion and Ariana Grande. Designer Marc Jacobs got recognition as the “fashion trailblazer”
