Ms. Sylvia Damalie Owori Appointed New Director Operations at Operation Wealth Creation!

The appointment took effect on 28th December, 2020!

Sylvia Damalie Owori has become the first female Director Operations of Operation Wealth Creation. Her appointment was announced on 28th December, 2020 by Lt. Gen. Charles Angina, OWC’s Deputy Chief Coordinator.

In a tweet shared to his personal account, he said, “It’s always humbling to see God almighty lift one our very own.@DamalieOwori Your hard work, talents, discipline and utter grit have been recognized and appreciated. Godspeed in your role at @OWC_ug.”

“I thank The President, Gen. Salim Saleh and the whole OWC fraternity for entrusting me with these additional responsibilities and duties in such a position in order to contribute to the betterment of our nation. I’m aware of the various challenges ahead and ready to face them with the same vigor as I have over the years. Only this time I know better,” Ms. Owori said. 

In her new role as Director Operations, she will oversee the operational strategies, goals and day-to-day running of the initiative, which was launched by H.E. The President in 2013 as an intervention to efficiently facilitate national socio-economic transformation, with a focus on raising household incomes and wealth creation by transforming subsistence farmers into commercial farmers to end poverty.  

Prior to this appointment, the renowned couturier had been in the same position running in acting capacity. She also doubled as the Executive Assistant to The Chief Coordinator onPublic Private Community Partnerships climbs to this position after  a successful tenure of her career at OWC. 

According to a statement from OWC, “she’s been able to create change as she pushes policymakers to make policies that will positively impact the entire population of Uganda.” Some of her accomplishments include the West Nile Investment Expo which held 2019 and the Rwenzori Investment Expo in 2020.

Owori is probably better known for single-handedly giving Uganda’s fashion industry a glitzy facelift through; her eponymous brand, Sylvia Owori, running the Miss Uganda franchise, African Woman Magazine and a number of other entrepreneurial efforts.
