Miss Uganda 2014/15 launches with new focus on agriculture
Miss Uganda 2014/15 launched yesterday with a new improved strategy set to revamp the pageant and change its reputation. Kezzi Entertainment the organisers of the annual pageant will now be focusing on agriculture as the tool for the ‘Beauty with a purpose’ thematic campaign the pageant has always been riding on.
According to Miss Uganda CEO Brenda Nanyonjo, agriculture to the young and beautiful women sounds like an impossibility, given their (Girls) kind of life tagged on snobbish and glamorous life. However she says the event will give a new approach with agriculture as a focus they will always preach to the girls and the youth world.
Nanyonjo said the auditions’ 20 finalists will be hosted at the Namunkekera, Kapeeka Agricultural research center where the beauties will learn about growing several other crops and value addition for the four days to get the hands-on knowledge and experience on the farms.
Miss Uganda Franchise officials said unlike in the past, the one week boot camp will be spent on the farms with the ladies learning about growing crops like maize, coffee, fruits and several other crops plus value addition.
“We are looking forward to a Miss Uganda that will represent the true aspects of beauty in Uganda and Africa in general. This is why we bring on board agriculture,” noted Nanyonjo. That way, she said, they don’t have to struggle fitting in the themes of European cloth lines made for Miss World body structures or put up with all sorts of diet plans.
We can’t wait to see how this will turn out.
