This year’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Kigali (MBFWK) took place from 16th-21st May and if you missed the Jaw dropping show cases, we got you. In many ways, the Spring Summer 22 program is an exciting one, showcasing new and house hold names in the African Fashion industry.

Some of those designers — with a fiery hunger in their bellies — produced some of the most interesting garments from this year’s Fashion Week, from Ugandan designer Kai’s Divo Collection to the best designers in Rwanda and around Africa, the fashion runway at the Mercedes Benz fashion week was full of creatively thought out and magnificent fashion pieces.

KAIS DIVO COLLECTION

Kai’s Divo Collection’s use of angelic white in flow length pieces and use of statement making shapes to add volume to his “THE REBIRTH “collection was a master class in design as the multiple dresses that came down the runway made a huge impact on their own. Abbas explained that the collection, titled rebirth is, “Purified & regal but daring and ready for the new world we are in now after all the madness with the lockdowns!” This comes off his much acclaimed showcase at the Janzi Awards, where he showcased a muted 25 piece collection.

BOLDY BONZA

Rwandese designer Boldybonza also opted for a white and neutral tone color palette in their free flowing and tailored collection that they show cased with a selection of maxis dresses and tailored unisexual suits and suit jump suits.

IZUBAA

Spring was also in full effect with IZUBAA ‘s full color collection as the brand opted for bright and fun color combinations with well tailored pants and jackets to match.
