Men Following Womenswear Trends is The ‘Hottest Menswear’ Trend

For a very long time, style trends have been inclined to gender, with collections presented as ‘womenwear’ and ‘menswear’. This is slowly fading away. Designers are choosing to show both menswear and womenswear collections together, worn by both male and female models. Then, there’s a new trend of gender fluidity where clothes are made not for a particular gender but for both men and women.

Because fashion is a global language, this phenomenon is becoming ‘a thing’ every where in the world. Some of these fashion trends were originally designed to be worn by women, but are now taking over the menswear space. We delved into some of those ‘we’ all thought were exclusively for women but are now followed by men too.

Lace/ chiffon shirts 

Lace and chiffon have for centuries been known to be fabrics used for women’s clothing.  However, this is no longer the case as men are slowly appreciating the fabric too. Lace for men is about comfort and being unafraid of showing it off.

That means that there are few rules to follow if you want to slay in a lace shirt. You should have a fine body, what my gym lovers flamboyantly call ‘Shredded’. Some of the best styling tricks to make a lace shirt fly is wearing it under a suit.

Sequins

Yes, men are slowly picking this trend on. The beauty about sequin is, when worn ‘tastefully’, they can be a symbol of sophistication, class and elegance. Many designers are now putting out menswear collections with clothes filled with embellishments such as sequins.

The next time you see a sequined jacket or pants, don’t be afraid to buy it. It will bring life to your wardrobe. Sequins make a very simple outfit instantly look interesting. Sequins can also channel your playful side.

Floral print

I am sure this is not a new trend or something that would raise questions but yeah, I have some friends that would misjudge you if they saw you in a floral pant or shirt. But, there’s nothing wrong with wearing florals.

However, you should know how to style your floral prints, for instance; a floral print shirt will look glorious with plain well-fitting pants or vice versa.

Fur

I have seen men on our streets comfortably wearing fur jackets and you will see this often very soon. Fur is appropriate to wear in the cold especially during winter which we don’t have here. That doesn’t mean you can’t have a little fur going on for you.

Makeup

Yes, I mean make up. Historically, mean wearing makeup isn’t something new especially for people who work in the entertainment world. This has however morphed into something any man can try. Concealing your imperfections is not a thing for only females now.
