Fashion is a female dominated industry, and everywhere around the world, male models get 75% less of of everything from jobs, to the spotlight and even fame compared to their female counterparts. This is hugely attributed to the men’s wear market which isn’t as vibrant and profitable as the one for women. This makes working as a male models a tougher call. It’s the only industry where women are paid and appreciated more than men.
At the recently held Kampala Fashion Week, this was no different. Just a few designers included men’s wear in their collections, which definitely meant that modeling jobs for boys had to be few. Standing out as a male model is really harder, but these few faces stood out and so, deserve to be celebrated.
