The upcoming Plus Size Fashion Week came out with an inclusive campaign dubbed #IamBeyondBody. It was created “to celebrate Ugandan women who have done excellently in recent years for their country, from businesswomen in fashion, property, music, agriculture, politics, hospitality, digital influencers and many more.”
The campaign was made to challenge the negative narratives surrounding plus-size women’s bodies and convey the message that there’s more to women in society than just idealized looks or bodies.
This year’s campaign stars Crystal Newman, Dr. Maggie Kigozi, Fiona Kemi, Cate Ayellah, Argatha Loswash, Jamila Mayanja, Martha Kay and Gloria Haguma.
Dr. Maggie Kigozi:
Dr. Maggie Kigozi is a business consultant, medical doctor, educator, and an overall businesswoman, successful yet humble and welcoming.
Cate Ayellah:
@cateayellah is the face of Plus-size Fashion Week Festival Kampala 2019. Cate Ayellah is a Casting Agent, Fashion, Lifestyle & Travel Blogger.
With Cate being a style blogger they felt that she was the right choice to represent the brand.
Martha Kay:
@marthakayug is just not just an actress, she’s a comedienne, digital influencer and an all-around beauty who truly embodies the qualities of a today’s Ugandan woman.
Argatha Loswash:
She is a media personality: Host, MC & TV producer. Argatha Loswash is wearing an emerald green dress designed by House of Jose made in sandwich fabric inspired by the beauty of a woman beyond her body.
Gloria Haguma:
Gloria Haguma is an award-winning Fashion Journalist & a PR & Management Consultant.
Fiona Kemi:
Fiona is a natural hair Vlogger who talks about her hair & demonstrates how to look after natural hair in her YouTube page.
Jamila Mayanja:

Because of her work, she was chosen to be part of the 2015 #MandelaWashingtonFellowship for #YALI: Young African leaders’ initiative where President @barackobama recognised her for curbing youth unemployment.
Crystal Newman:

The Plus Size Fashion Week Festival will take place on the 6th December 2019 at Skyz Hotel for the small fee of 100,000.
