Maxhosa By Laduma, The Knitwear Brand Taking The Global Industry By Storm

By  |

DIn 2012, Laduma Ngxokolo founded Maxhosa by Laduma- a South African knitwear brand. His initial vision was to create a modern Xhosa inspired knit wear collection suitable for the market. His unisex collection features traditional Xhosa beadwork patterns, symbolism and colours which showcase the beauty, language and culture of the Xhosa people.

It has since evolved and been amended in modern pop culture design contexts that easily resonate with multiple fashion markets across the globe. The brand has been endorsed by everyone from Alicia Keys to Beyonce.

In 2014, he was awarded a WeTransfer scholarship to study a masters in Material Futures at Central St. Martins and named one of the Most Influential Africans of 2017 by New African Magazine.

He has won awards nearly 13 awards since his career commenced among which most notably was 2015 Vogue Italia Scouting for Africa Award, 2016 Fashion Designer of the Year Southern Africa: ABRAYNZ Style and Fashion Awards, 2017 Pride of Africa: Africa Fashion Week Barcelona Awards among so many others.
