Last weekend on Mali: Impasse at Mali Holdings

Mali revolves around the lives of an affluent family, rich to the bone but like every family of this nature, plagued with deeper public hidden issues. The family members are different in character, cultural, social and economic status but are all embroiled in effervescent tales of love, money, power, self gain, seduction and success.

Last weekend..

Bernadette who was suspended from work from Mali Holdings walks into the office with claims that she knows the person behind the malicious newspaper headline. She asks Atia the receptionist to help her get to the bottom of it without Tony finding out.

She later finds out that it is Simon from the print who is responsible. This throws Simon into a panic attack. He runs to Usha for help but to no avail. Usha tells him bluntly that it was bound to end up that way. “All we have to do is to keep our mouths shut,” she coldly tells him just before ruthlessly sending him out of her house.

Minutes after, She calls Nimrod and asks him to finish Simon off. “He’s becoming a problem. Please finish him,” she hastily asked. Bernadette later runs into a meeting where Tony is and breaks the news that the man who knew something about the story had been gunned down. Tony pays no much attention and asks her to leave immediately.

Just before Usha starts celebrating, Nimrod tells her that man who had been gunned down was actually not Simon but someone else. “Simon is alive,” he broke the news to a visibly shocked Usha. He also confirms that it is Fadhili behind the ruckus.

Still at Mali Holdings, Mabel and Richard ask Tony to fire Hakeem. They all remind him of who has the powers at the media firm. Tony attempts to boot Hakeem out only to get lost with words. He asks him to take annual leave considering the drama in his life. Hakeem turns this down and reiterates that he is fine and is dealing with the situation the best way he knows. Tony gives up.

At Mabel’s house, everyone is still fearing for Lulu’s life. Nandi and Arthur plan to invite the Bishop home to help talk to Lulu. They all agree in unison that she needs someone to talk to. Nandi later asks Miriam the maid to keep all sharp cutlery away from the kitchen. Lulu is on medication but that doesn’t stop her brother Arthur from getting paranoid when he sees her getting ready to swallow tablets. Mabel finds Nandi purchasing ‘abortion inducing‘ drugs over the phone. Nandi later claims that the drugs are meant for a friend.

There’s a plot by Arthur, Nandi and Richard to terminate Lulu’s pregnancy. Arthur gets home and distrusts Mabel by telling her that he wanted to prepare a special meal for the family.

Will they succeed? Will Tony finally fire Hakeem? Will Usha survive this scandal?
