Kenyan Vanessa Kingori Appointed as Publishing Director at British Vogue

VANESSA KINGORI MBE has been appointed as Publishing Director of British Vogue, it was announced yesterday (Sep 25) by Albert Read, Managing Director of Condé Nast Britain.

“During her time at GQ, Vanessa has shown herself to be an outstanding executive, with an ability to harness the continuing power of print while embracing the platforms, ideas and collaborations that resonate with a new generation of consumer and client,” commented Read.

“Instrumental in doubling digital revenue with the relaunched and very successful mobile first GQ website, Vanessa oversaw the highest total annual revenue for GQ in the last decade. With Vogue entering its new era, Vanessa is the clear choice for this post.”

Kingori is currently Publisher of British GQ and GQ Style, its first female Publisher during its 30-year history, and has been with Condé Nast for more than 8 years. Kingori previously worked for Esquire where she was named as the Hearst UK Salesperson of the Year, and the Evening Standard’s ES magazine.

Respected within the fashion and media industries, Kingori was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in 2016; is a member of the Mayor of London’s Brexit Expert Advisory Panel; received the Walpole Leader in Luxury Award 2016; was named in Vogue’s “10 Women Shaping British Menswear”; and takes a keen interest in youth development, supporting students through panel discussions, project evaluations and mentoring in her role as Visiting Fellow at the University of the Arts London for the last four years.

Kingori will replace Stephen Quinn, who retires from his role as Publishing Director of British Vogue after 26 years. Quinn remains in post until the 22nd December, at which point Kingori will assume the position.
