On the latest Harper’s Bazaar Vietnam cover, Elsa Majimbo, a Kenyan sensation, discusses her breakthrough and social media, dubbed “The New Icon of Comedy.” When asked to describe herself in three words, the comedienne and author stated, “ICON, ICON, and ICON, because I’m Elsa,” she confidently stated.
Commonly referred to as the real-life Queen’s Gambit, according to Bazaar, the 20-year-old comedienne became the first comedian to collaborate with couture fashion house Maison Valentino, and with 2.5 million followers on Instagram and 1.1 million followers on TikTok, Bloomberg named her as the lead in their Ones to Watch in 2022 list.
In the feature with Bazaar, Elsa shared that she began to create content in a pandemic and she stated, “I started making content as a way of making myself laugh. No one else did at first, and in fact, when I first started posting my content, I lost followers. but true.
On social media, Elsa states, “It is extremely important for me to use my platform to talk about colourism, racism, cyberbullying, and more.” These are all things that I grew up going through and still go through to this day. ”
Hard to believe, but also true, Elsa Majimbo is also a chess champion. She shared a few of her achievements and also talked about her life as a real-life Queen Gambit.
