Keke Palmer Stuns In a New Editorial For British Vogue & Yara Shahidi Glows in Dior Beauty’s Forever Campaign
1. Keke Palmer Stuns In New Editorial For British Vogue
As she takes the lead in Jordan Peele’s latest project, the rise of actor, advocate and social media sensation Keke Palmer is complete, she sat down for a one on on e interview with British vogue to talk everything from reinvention. laughter and her latest box office hit ‘Nope’. Photographs by Greg Williams. Styling by Law Roach.
Palmer, 28, has leant into reinvention more than most. She started acting as a 10-year-old, when she was cast as Queen Latifah’s niece in Barbershop 2: Back in Business, but since then she has been a singer-songwriter, a comedian, a talk-show host, an internet sensation, an activist and an author. Perhaps best known in the US for her role in 2006’s Akeelah and the Bee, she has gained a reputation for her exuberant sense of humour, authenticity, groundedness and candour.
Her easy ability to connect with her audience has been a huge part of Keke’s success (in 2019 she was named one of Time magazine’s 100 Next, a list of “rising stars who will change the world”). “I always felt like only people our age know what we’re going through, so maybe we should talk to each other,” she says in her fast-paced Illinois accent of using her social media – she has 11 million Instagram followers and counting – to express another side of herself. “I started to see that other people were dealing with the same things, and I thought to myself, ‘Man, if people think I’m living a perfect life, and they can see that I’m not happy all the time, it might do some good.’
2.Yara Shahidi Glows in Dior Beauty’s Rouge Forever campaign
To accompany the launch of its new Rouge Dior Forever lipsticks, a solid bullet version of its much beloved Rouge Dior liquid lipsticks, Dior Beauty released a mesmerizing new campaign starring brand ambassadors Natalie Portman and Yara Shahidi. According to the LVMH-owned brand, the opaque and long-wearing Rouge Dior is the best selling lipstick worldwide—as if Portman and Shahidi hadn’t convinced us enough already.
The campaign for the Rouge Dior Forever range features a clip directed by Arnaud Uyttenhove and a still campaign shot by Viviane Sassen. In the imagery, Portman and Shahidi can be seen moving around an open, arid, hilly landscape wearing flowing silk gowns that correspond to their chosen lipstick shade. The new Rouge Dior Forever line, conceptualized by Dior Beauty’s creative and image director Peter Philips, touts a 16-hour no-transfer wear time and comes in 22 shades, which will be launched on September 1.
