Inside Prim and Joel’s Fabulous Wedding Bash!

By  |

Joel and Prim Julie Nalukenge Kintu tied the knot at St. Luke Ntinda C.O.U on 8th February, 2020. Joel, a Civil Engineer, and Julie, a Human Resources Manager at Newrest Uganda, an airline catering company, had known each other for 9 years.

MEETING

It’s an interesting story! We met in 2011. A friend invited me to accompany her to have lunch with a friend. This friend of my friend came along with a friend, who happened to be Joel. I think it was love at first sight because it is now 9 years down the road, and our love is still blooming.

THE WEDDING

We planned for three months. We had ideas and all we wanted at hand. We hosted 350 guests at Hotel Africana because we were weather cowards and looked for an indoor venue that was easily accessible for family and friends. My sisters and I planned everything so we didn’t need a service provider.

THEME AND DECOR

Our theme was ‘glamour’. I wanted a wedding that was exciting, attractive appealing and captivating. So everything was glamourous. The look and feel. The linen was gold and white. It cost about 20m.

THE WOW MOMENT

My Gown. I wanted this gown on full display because it was custom tailored and I loved every detail on it. I wanted a long trail with butterflies to add a captivating element. The changing dress had a peacock look and glass sparks that made it very appealing, which was one of the themes of the day. All dresses were custom designed by Olivia Nanfuka of NFKA Clothing.

The Suits

We chose emerald because it was trending at the moment. Nick – The Looks designed them.

Bridesmaids’ dresses

I made the choice, then Olivia of Nfka Clothing designed and tailored them.

The Rings

Joel picked them.

Challenges

It was a real hustle getting the bridesmaids together for everything for instance fitting the dresses.

The Cake

It was done by Nana cakes. The flavours being Orange, Fruit, Lemon, Butter scotch, Chocolate, Vanilla and Caramel.

Beauty

Hair and makeup was done by Ice Kenny at Skyz Hotel Naguru followed by a photo-shoot.

Entertainment

Real Sounds had our guests on their toes through out the day. We crowned the day with an exhilarating performance from Rema.

The Nerves

The crew from Pearl Magic TV kept me busy, so I didn’t get any nerves. Also, the engagement prepared me for the big day ahead. Everything was in place thanks to our organized and dedicated team. The service providers were professionals and fully paid prior to the event. I had no reason to worry.

One moment that will last with you forever

Walking down the aisle. It was magical! The song was Oli Katonda by Pr. Justine Nabbosa.

Favourite details

They were many. The butterflies and peacock on my gown, my short changing dress, the bow detail on my second changing gown, the colour and details on my bridesmaids’ dresses, the jumpsuits of the flower girls and my orange bow shoes.

The problem with standing in the middle of the room is that you become part of the narrative and the power to tell the story is stripped off you. I pour it out in writing, shaping the river into words.
