At midnight today, New York Fashion Week’s Spring Summer 2021 season started. This time round it is clearly different, and since people cannot travel or converge to watch the shows live, NYFW still went ahead to make it work, with a virtual fashion week.
Jason Wu kicked off the event with a big burst of colour. His collection was full of bright clear colours, colour blocking and loose silhouettes. The drama came mostly from the vivid hues, barely a pastel in sight.
The clothes from this Ready To Wear collection give off a very relaxed vibe, giving me lockdown chic, it’s something one would wear on holiday, or at home, which I guess is why the collection is going on theme of a holiday in Tulum. This is where the designer calls “home away from home” and the set up of the show matched the holiday vibe with the palm trees and winging wood panel runway outdoors, that almost hid the fact that they were in the middle of New York City.
