It Started With Us Sitting Next to Each Other in Church – Belindah & Haggai

When Belindah and Haggai met in church 7 years ago, it never occurred to them that they were meant to be together. However, there was a sign – they sat next to each other.

“We met in church. We sat next to each other and talked for a while. We ended up sharing contacts and became friends,” Belindah shares. At the time, she was in her S6 vacation while Haggai was in his first year at university. 

The friendship blossomed into a great relationship, and 7 years later they were ready to get married. “Having dated for a long time, we had plans to marry, so there wasn’t really a surprise proposal,” she recalls. “I had made it clear that I didn’t want any surprises, it was a well discussed and planned introduction & engagement that happened at my home.”

Planning their wedding was not short of challenges. The couple had to alter their initial plan of a big lavish wedding for a small intimate ceremony. “It was a tricky ride given the pandemic and a lockdown involved. We were planning in faith that things would get better, we made so many changes from our original planned wedding just to fit the situation. We had agreed not to postpone no matter what. We were really just lucky. Good thing we had planned most things before covid raided us. Family was supportive and God was on our side.”

The couple tied the knot on August 22nd, 2020. They hosted their wedding ceremony at Royal Suites Bugolobi.
