Is Sylvia Owori Running For Office?

Is her position at OWC only preparing her for something bigger?

It all started with a surprising departure from NTV Style Project and the social scene altogether. Then the numerous cryptic posts on social media alluding to how she has changed and grown as a woman. The many changes include revamping her image and opening up an official Facebook page with the names Sylvia Damalie Owori separating her ‘politically charged statements’ from her fashion business, which is silently thriving, by the way, you should visit her new branch at Pearl of Africa Hotel to see this. However, her posts on social media and new image altogether have been giving us so many ideas, among them being, ‘is she running for office?’

”Much as I don’t like politics, given my level of determination, I believe I can achieve and reach greater heights,” she shared in an interview with The Independent magazine last month.

“The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are. You trade in your reality for a role. You trade in your sense for an act. You give up your ability to feel, and in exchange, put on a mask. There can’t be any large-scale revolution until there’s a personal revolution, on an individual level. It’s got to happen inside first. #Believeinchange #radicalchange#economicrevolution” she shared on Facebook.

“Never be afraid of deceitful, dishonest, brutal Power. That is true Freedom. # Revolutionary ,” she tweeted.

While we’re not sure about the ‘politics’ part, what we know is that the famed couturier and businesswoman is currently the Executive Assistant to the Chief Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation on Private-public partnerships. Operation Wealth Creation was launched by H.E the President in July 2013 as an intervention to efficiently facilitate national socio-economic transformation, with a focus on raising household incomes and wealth creation. In her capacity, she’s able to create change as she pushes policymakers to make policies that will positively impact not just the fashion industry but also the entire population of Uganda.

Sylvia Owori has for years been a tremendously influential force in the fashion, business, and entertainment industries. Questions of what she would be doing next have been swirling. What is her next move? Is her position at OWC only preparing her for something bigger? We’re yet to get answers.
