Is Colour Blocking Worth Another Try?
Is colour blocking coming back in 2020? Today we are going to explore this ‘60s and ‘80s trend that made an appearance in 2017 and seems to be making waves on the gram and fashion runways again. Better yet, I will be sharing simple tips on how to wear colour blocked outfits that will turn eyes.
Colour blocking involves using colour blocks in your outfit to create a bold and eye catching look. It is a way you can extend the shelf life of your rainy November coats to sunny January and still stay in style. Despite the fact that the term colour blocking sounds intimidating, it is quite easy to pull off with a few tricks I am about to show you today.
If you are planning on buying a new coat, how about a two tone colour option? Wearing a colour block jacket with heels or a pair of sneakers will make your outfit boujie and give it some pzazz.
There is nothing that says fashion-forward like an adventurous look. Choosing colours from opposite ends of the colour palette can be tricky. This is because you stand the risk of coming off like a Children’s TV show presenter. However paring two colours like green and gold or brown and purple might save your look.
It must be equally interesting to mix up fabrics and textures. Take inspiration from this look and merge soft, vibrant matte with silky monochromatic patterns or pair solid pleats with leather or suede.
Colour blocking has forever been a convenient but stylish way to flatter your body regardless of what shape it is. You can use darker blocks of colour to disguise areas you are not so keen on showing off. Strong parallel stripes can create a column of colour which would give your body a slimming and elongation result.
Is this a style risk you will be willing to attempt?
