If you’re a fan of street style, you’ll agree with me that Industrial belts are some of the hottest accessories right now. After their debut in OFF-White’s Pre-Fall 2016 collection, streetwear fanatics have not stopped wearing them and sharing photos on Instagram. Beyonce, Kendall Jenner, and every stylish person you know being the ones leading this pack.
Industrial belts come in a number of colours, yellow being the most ubiquitous. Because of that, other colours such as white and black are highly recommended. The fascinating thing about this belt is its enormous length. It’s too long, you’ve got to run it around your waist a number of times to utilize its length entirely. The result is always a tacky looking belted look. And, tacky is the new cool if you need to know.
How to wear your industrial belt
You know how to wear a belt until you get your hands on this belt. Its extended length makes wearing it seem like a complex equation. According to OFF-White, wearing this belt is rather easy.
- Run the belt around your waist twice or more till you achieve your desired cinched look.
- Slide it through the buckle and fold it behind the top layer.
- Tie the belt in a knot and let the rest of it hang to the ground.
With Pants – The belt can play the role of your ordinary belt if you let it. What’s different is, it works best when worn with exaggerated pant silhouettes such as baggy jeans, flare pants and more. Fit the belt through those belt loops, buckle up and let the rest of the belt hang away. Boots are highly recommended.
With a jacket – For edgy fashionistas, wearing a jacket with nothing else is something you’ve probably tried a couple of times. This belt comes in handy as it makes your jacket dress look a lot chicer. Just run the belt around your waist to give your jacket look more shape and form. It does the same for long coats such as trench coats.
With a dress – Add some street style vibe to your dress by swapping an ordinary belt (or no belt) with an industrial belt. This is how to switch to ‘hip’ in an instant. The belt can also be worn with jumpsuits.
