How To Remove Makeup Like A Pro, According To Beauty Blogger Sharon Kamanyire
If you want to maintain healthy and radiant skin, a few routines such as
taking off your makeup before you sleep should be a part of your skincare regime.
Going to bed with your makeup on can lead to acne, wrinkle formation, eye irritations, dry skin, the list goes on and on. That’s why you need to make sure to take it off without fail. This not only lets your skin breathe, it allows it to get nourished as you rest in bed.
Today I have enlisted the help of beauty blogger Sharon Kamanyire of livingwithsharon.com (do check it out) to take us through her makeup removal routine!
Without further ado let’s get into it!
START OFF WITH CLEAN HANDS
Before you do anything wash your hands.
“My routine usually starts with a pair of washed hands, the last thing I would want is to add germs on to my skin,” Kamanyire shares.
NEXT : DOUBLE CLEANSING
“Double cleansing is my favourite makeup removal routine, no other method does a better job if you asked me.”
If you’re not sure what we’re talking about, double cleansing is a face cleansing technique which involves using a cleansing oil / balm and then following it up with a deeper water based cleanser.
The first round of cleansing dissolves the stubborn oil impurities, makeup and sunscreen formulas thereby clearing the way for your regular cleanser to do its job faster and quickly.
“My favourite is Simple Cleansing oil. Another good choice is Coconut oil, it’s budget friendly as well, ” she shares.
The second round of cleansing will thoroughly cleanse the skin’s pores and remove any left over impurities. You can use a good face wash or water based cleanser for this round.
“One of my favorite facial washes is Estee Lauder’s Perfectly Clean and the Cetaphil Cleanser.”
“A good face wash will either wash all your makeup off without irrupting the skin, or it will work amazingly well with the oil cleanser to properly remove all your makeup,” she explains.
HOW TO DOUBLE CLEANSE
Apply the oil based cleanser to your face, massage it in for 30 seconds and then wash it off with lukewarm water. Take your time to wash off all the makeup grime from your skin.
Next, gently massage your regularly facial cleanser on to your damp skin for about a minute or two to wash out the residue oils and deep cleanse your pores.
Finally remove it using lukewarm water and then gently dry your face with a soft towel.
“Always remember to be as gentle as possible while deep cleansing. And if you don’t have an oil cleanser try one of your favourite face washes instead – they’ll still do the trick,” she advises.
ANOTHER ALTERNATIVE: MAKEUP WIPES / MICELLAR WATER
“Most people tend to gravitate towards wipes because they’re a lot quicker to use and are perfect for those days when you’re just too tired to go through the above routine.”
They’re a great alternative, you just wipe off your makeup after all.
“I particularly stay away from using wipes because they leave the skin so dry, and this may damage it in the long run,” Kamanyire explains .
One of the best ways to cleanse your face is double cleansing. It actually takes long, but remember it probably took you a longer time to apply the makeup so why not take a little time to take it off.
Deep cleansing is the best way to ensure your skin is free from every single makeup scrap. Once you’re done deep cleansing, apply a good moisturizer to lock in hydration, and you’re good to go !
Now off to bed you go, feeling squeaky clean and hydrated!
Have a lovely night*
Truly,
Humura
