I know a number of couples that have split because of hair. We understand that weaves always help to accentuate the beauty of a woman. The ability to pull off any hair ideas they might want to try out with utmost ease. It’s also important to note that a professionally done weave should look as natural as natural hair. 1. Invest in good service

Many women dodge quality service dubbing it costly and they opt for mediocre work done by unprofessional hair stylists. While it’s the weave they might be styling, your natural hair is always at a huge risk of getting damaged. In that regard it is important to invest in some good work done by an experienced hair stylist. It doesn’t matter where you go, the person just has to be good. With good consultation and top notch service, your weave can last up to 3 months. According to Martin of Lords and Lady’s beauty parlour, the cost of a good weave depends on one’s pocket. “They range between Shs 100,000 and up to 20 million”!

2. Hair should match your natural hair strands

As I’ve stressed above you need a good hair stylist. This will come with great consultation and an understanding of what works for you. The weave has to be of good quality first of all. If  you can afford, invest in a weave that can last. One that you can use whenever you feel like doing so. It has to match with the strands of your hair though. Human hair is always the best option. It’s always lustrous sleek and tangle free. This  can be styled as natural hair.

3. Stay away from glue

Glue has chemicals that can lead to allergic reasons. It affects the follicles of your hair leading to bald patches in case the stylist is not that good. During the process of undoing this hair is when this happens. If you must use glue, place make it a point to have a professional stylist work on you.

4. Wash your hair often.

A good wash every 10-14  is important. Your scalp needs to get exfoliated and cleansed properly. Make sure you shampoo thoroughly, and rinse out all residue. With conditioner, focus on the ends of the hair. Also seek out shampoos specifically made for weaves.

5. Let your natural hair breath

Your hair should be given a day off. Being sandwiched in between the weave can be tough for it. Once in a while take the weave out and give the hair chance to see some sunlight. Have it washed and conditioned. If it is possible have some time off (even only a day) before you do another hair style. This is really good for your hair. The natural sheen and thickness is always maintained.

6. Personality and your lifestyle.

If you’re a singer or a model, long, waist length hair works for you. Only entertainers can pull off  pounds and pounds of hair on their heads. Ladies let’s stick to manageable hair.

Lords and Lady’s salon gives us some more tips here

Use a spray on liquid hair oil like hot six lightly on your hair and make sure you sleep with a satin or silk scarf tied over your hair at night. The cotton pillow case will dry your hair our fast and make it matte up.

– Also, if you’re sitting on a chair, don’t let your hair get caught between the back of your clothes and the chair. That will help to dry it out and bunch it up.

– Once you get the moisture back in your weave, you’ll still need to keep that brush in your bag and smooth it out every now and again!  One thing that always brings life back to wet and wavy hair is….wetting it!

– As simple as that sounds it’s the best way to bring that type of hair back to its original look. Now the problem most people have is having it stay that way. What you need to do is get your hands on a good curling mousse product (and there are many on the market). You can try the one by smooth n’ shine.

– It’s very easy to use. Just wet the hair completely, then take a good amount of the curling mousse and scrunch it into the hair. Don’t fluff the hair or comb it out. Just let it air dry afterward and you’ll have smooth defined curls.

– If you need it, spray it with some gloss spray to give your hair shine.
