Red lipstick is one beauty staple that no lady should live without . It’s a classic and has been known to make a woman feel more confident . Just like a pair of killer high heels, red lipstick has the power to dramatically transform your appearance from ordinary to alluring and sensual.

But just like it’s important to pick out the right shoe size, you need to get the right shade of red lipstick for you, or else your whole look will be off.

Did you know that the wrong shade of red lipstick can at times make your teeth appear yellow? In order to avoid getting a tawdry look, here’s a guide to help you pick out the right shade of red for your complexion. The first step you would want to do is to get to know your skin’s undertone.

Take a look at the veins on your wrist; if they look bluish, you’ve got blue black undertones. You have cool-toned skin.

If you fall in the cool skin tone category, look for lipsticks with blue hues like plum, cherry, mauve, crimson and purples. Remember that, a dark skin tone can handle more intense colors, like deep reds and reds with blue undertones. Fabulous wines, berries, and brick reds look great.

If your veins appear bluish-green, then consider yourself lucky because that means you have a neutral undertone, which means you can basically get away with pretty much anything – and we’re jealous of that!

Neutral skin tones can rock pretty much anything. Neutral skin tones have both cool and warm tones, so there’s pretty much nothing that doesn’t suit you.

If, however, they look more green, then you have a warm skin tone – the golden tone of your skin acts as a filter over the color of your veins making them appear green.
