We don’t know how or when the rumor got started, but we’ve always been under the impression that our bras were preventing our breasts from sagging. We thought they were our boobs’ unsung heroes, but according to a study carried out over the course of 15 years in France, we’ve been lied to.
Researchers at the University of Besançon found that going braless actually increases the strength of the breast muscle, which results in less sagging over time. Basically we have been babying our tig ol’ bitties for years, and now they are too weak to stand up for themselves. Go figure.
The leader of the study, Professor Jean-Denis Rouillon, told the Daily Mail that he believes the “absence of a bra could keep breasts in shape’ and prevent back ache.”
Congratulations to those of you who rip off your bra as soon as your apartment door open. You may have been doing it right all along. But going braless in public is typically one of those endeavors that involve a low cut dress or loose top. However, our mind is racing with thoughts of what it would be like to metaphorically burn our bras by not wearing them.
Rouillon said that 42 per cent of the women “felt discomfort” for the first three months of letting the boobs run free, but that eventually disappeared. This is really interesting because I would love to prove this.
Let us all try it for just a week to notice if there’re any results. Obviously mind what you wear to work. We don’t want you fired.
