Fashion Police – Royal Wedding Edition: Serena Williams, Idris Elba, Victoria Beckham, Oprah and More
Welcome to a special edition of Fashion Police, The Royal Wedding Edition. Like all British royal weddings, fascinators and hats ruled the event which was held at St. George’s Chapel Windsor in England. Our cop spent the whole of Saturday analyzing the hits and misses of the ‘royal guests’, and all the fashion commentary you need to know from what is arguably the wedding of the year.
Hit it
Karen Spencer, wife to Charles Spencer (Harry’s uncle) dazzled in a violet dress with a bolero cape which reminded us of Harry Potters’ “women of Beauxbatons”. The dress sculptures her curves very well.
VERDICT; FLY
Serena dazzled in power-pink Versace and the dress worked magic with her complexion. Together with a statement necklace, mini box clutch and mouth-watering hubby, Alexis Ohanian she glowed.
VERDICT;FLY
Victoria wore a midnight blue shift dress from her own brand, Victoria Beckham and paired it with a matching headpiece and contrast red pumps. I’m not here for this gloomy look though and her icy attitude should be reserved for funerals. She walked around like the Grim Reaper, a contrast to husband David who wore a charcoal three-piece Dior Homme morning suit and beamed brighter than the groom.
Verdict; FLY
Oprah showed up looking like a bank wearing a sustainable viscose knit double-tiered Stella McCartney dress in a delightful blush. Her matching Philip Treacy hat and latte-coloured sunglasses is all she needed to nail this million dollar look.
Verdict; FLY
Sofia Wellesley wore a floral dress by Red Valentino with a Peter Pan collar in an ornate print that is not only intricate but also lively.
VERDICT; FLY
Idris Elba’S classic navy suit with a peak lapel – simple and undone, had me weak in the knees. He very well could have been the most dapper man in that cathedral.
VERDICT ; FLY
Meanwhile his fiancé Sabrina Dhowre wore head-to-toe Gucci, and I am less than impressed. The red and green lining is everywhere! Such a distraction; she looks like a third-grade teacher having a photo-op with her Hollywood crush. It’s like she attends an overseas boarding school for rich rebellious kids.
VERDICT; FLOP
Amal Clooney brought in the sun and glowed in a bright mustard Stella McCartney cap-sleeve dress with a coordinating Stephen Jones hat. A simple clutch bag and her boo George on her arm where just the perfect accessories. They looked stunning. VERDICT; FLY Priyanka Chopra was hands down the best-dressed guest at the royal wedding in her periwinkle Vivienne Westwood structured suit with a matching fascinator and metallic clutch. The bejewelled glass slippers were something out of the Cinderella storybook. I’m in owe VERDICT; fLY Chloe Madeley was way out of line with this bare-chested display of sagging body parts! This went against all dress-code rules and was just outright inappropriate for her to show up with her cleavage screaming for attention. Verdict; flop
The Duchess of Cornwall’s hat did little to impress me; for anyone to wear that baby octopus, it must at least come with free wifi. I was actually worried a Marabou Stork would land to lay eggs there. I think It would serve a better purpose as a toilet seat cover though.
Verdict; FLOP
