Welcome to Fashion Police, a new column where our cop apprehends fashion and style offenders. Expect verdicts such as Flop-ish, fly, hot mess and flop.
Fille
Fille almost got it right with this gladiator look; the boots and leather fringe skirt were on point. Then the unfortunate uneven placement of those shoulder accessories and the ill-fitting corset happened. What a mess! It looks as though it’s about to burst, that coupled with the lack of appropriate jewelry left this look hanging.
Verdict; Hot-mess
5/10
Esther Nakitende
Esther Nakitende knows how to dress her body and accentuate her features. These are the wonders of a good waist trainer! The brilliance of the red peplum bodysuit, nude shoes, and big fro is the kind of style prowess we need and I’m here for a big girl that dresses right.
VERDICT; FLY
10/10
Exodus
Exodus’ music might be fading but his fashion is skyrocketing. This embellished blazer looks better on him than it did on Brian Ahumuza because of the styling where he wore it against a sporty look with sneakers, colorful sweatpants and an undershirt. That also coupled with better accessories.
VERDICT; FLY
9/10
Sheebah
Sheeba’s African fantasy in this look didn’t meet the mark. The combination of these two patterns didn’t marry well together and the shoes couldn’t even tie-up and compliment this look. The granny panties though, with the lace hemming are the tomato in a fruit salad…they ruined everything! It’s almost as though she’s modeling for a diaper commercial.
VERDICT; FLOP
0/10
Fille
Fille could blend very well and inspire some hard-laboring women on Speke Rd and William St dressed like this! Can we all agree that the combination of these particular shorts, the hideous belt, sketchy jewelry and cheap top guise her as a dealer in covered human body parts? This is a bad gyal look gone terribly wrong.
VERDICT; FLOP
0/10
Zahara Totto
Zahara Totto was well put together this time around, I’m impressed. The Afro-print blouse, leggings, and heels were elegant, to say the least. That choker though should not have been invited to the party, it choked the look.
VERDICT; FLY-ISH
7/10
Lydia Jazmine and Calvin the Entertainer
Lydia Jazmine’s socks-in-heels look is just absurd and village-ish. If it was that cold, she should have worn sneakers! Also, the monochrome in a pastel colour as boring as warm grey is not cute at all. Calvin’s combination of a floral shirt, cap, and ugly sweatpants is just too much! Just because they are trendy doesn’t mean you wear them all at the same time
VERDICT; FLOP-ISH
3/10
Hellen Lukoma and Alex Muhangi
Hellen’s blue leather jacket, matching ring and heels barely evaded the matchy-matchy police to create a flawless look. The white micro mini dress showed off her legs in the best way ever. Even the Ponytail and earrings tied this look into chic forever 21 galore. Alex Muhangi, on the other hand, looks really clean and polished.
VERDICT; HOT
10/10
Judithiana
Judithiana’s pleated collar dress with lace detail is the kind of fashion choice you wear to meet your in-laws. A fashion-forward yet decent and the unique belt could have stood out more on a different outfit, the patterns on this one overshadow it.
VERDICT; FLY
9/10
NBS Katchup crew
I’ll skip Douglas and company and move straight to Fabiola, what the heck is that? That kind of outfit is suitable for a different kind of occupation altogether; it’s like she’s dressed for an S&M shoot! She could crack a whip or pull out all sorts of bondage tools from under that T-shirt. A daring choice though
VERDICT; HOT-MESS
5/10
Anita Fabiola
Whatever she’s selling, I’m taking ten of it. Fabiola looked hot in the all-black suit bringing out the businesswoman in her. The shoes though the real star of this pic.
VERDICT; FLY
8/10
Bettinah Tianah
The cut of this red dress could trip off an alarm, fire! But it seems the cleavage show was extreme and even a bit too much for Bettinah. The thigh-high slit was too much though, it doesn’t do well to make this a tasteful look. Brilliant execution though.
VERDICT; FLY-ISH 7/10
