1.Fashion Brand Loewe Grows Real Plants on Clothes and Shoes
Plants sprouting from sodden garments were combined with screens decorated across models’ bodies for Spanish fashion brand Loewe’s Spring Summer 2023 menswear show.
The collection, which was designed by the brand’s creative director Jonathan Anderson, was created as an amalgamation of nature and technology and a “fusion of the organic and fabricated”, said the fashion brand.
Jonathan Anderson sent out models wearing looks that were embroidered with real-life plants and greenery for his Loewe collection. He collaborated with Spanish bio-designer Paula Ulargui Escalona to seed, water and grow (for over 20 days) everything from Chia plants to cat’s wort on coats, footwear and denim. “[She’s] this amazing girl I found who’s experimenting with cultivating plants onto fabric and garments,” Anderson told Vogue
Escalona cultivated cats wort and chia onto the bodies of hoodies, sweatpants, jeans, shoes and outerwear in a purpose-built polytunnel greenhouse for 20 days in the lead-up to the show on 25 June.
Each of the sprouting garments required regular watering to ensure the health of the plants was maintained for the show.
As a result, garments appeared on the runway soaked and sodden – made visually apparent from watermarked jersey hoodies and sweatpants.
“The idea is that over time the pieces merge with nature,” said Loewe.
Screens projecting images of birds, sunsets and marine life were fixed, stitched and suspended across the exterior of coats and tops like LCD patchwork.
2.Stars flock Dior Fashion Show for Paris fashion week
The Dior Men show drew a bunch of celebs like A-lister celebrities including Wizkid, supermodel Naomi Campbell, Hollywood couple Justin Timberlake and Jessica Ruger, Biel, ex-soccer star David Beckham, and rival designers Olivier Rousteing of Balmain and Matthew Williams from Givenchy, sat on real grass, along with the rest of the guests, surrounded by wildflowers
The catwalk was transformed into a lawn of purple, orange, and pink flowers, with a blue-sky painted panorama and a life-size reproduction of Christian Dior’s pink house in Normandy.
It was faced by a reproduction of a country house once frequented by the Bloomsbury Group, a British collective of writers, intellectuals and artists in the early 20th century that are often cited by Jones as an influence
The set recreated an English garden complete with charming houses and an open sea landscape recalling the era of the Bloomsbury Group. J Balvin said the set reminded him of his grandmother’s home while Jessica Biel said she felt transported.
Some of our favorite looks included the bags with water bottle holders, monochromatic white suits and shirts that hung off the body.
