Nigerian Contemporary Women and men’s wear Brand Sisiano was established in 2013 by dancer Sisiano Paolo. He pulls his inspiration from universal spaces such as the relationship between his mother and nature. The natural-born dancer turned Creative Director whose passion for gliding, jumping, and spinning in the spotlight has translated into his fashion design career, which has experienced many eye-catching movements.
During his dance career, Sisiano found his way into costume design. It wasn’t until 2013, however, when he was a finalist at the GTBank Lagos Fashion & Design Week Awards that he decided to formally enter the world of high-end fashion. From his entry into the fashion world to his latest fashion line, Sisiano hasn’t lost sight of his clothing’s need for mobility. Every garment produced possesses certain fluidity. Whether the flow comes from fabric that billows in the wind or bold patterns that stream across his pieces, every piece forces onlookers to pause to fully comprehend the influx style.
Paolo designs dreamy, generously flowing, and easily wearable clothes with an ethereal aesthetic. And it all begins with a creative vision that naturally starts with movement. The brand is an open invitation to Paolo’s world- whimsical, eclectic, sensual, carefree, artsy- all the qualities that his Mother affectionately nicknames him ‘fantasy boy’. For the brand’s customers, an audience that’s certain and comfortable in the fullness of the human they have become, it becomes an immersive experience to the extent that he intends to make his human journey accessible through each piece.
The fluidity of the garments whether layered or not, almost always exude a draped effect giving the collections a contemporary casual-chic feel. The sometimes printed and always colorful co-ords in both men’s and women’s wear.
The brand’s latest collection dubbed “My Eyes Before Yours” embodies the journey to self and fully encapsulates the full essence of Sisiano.
In a statement following the release, the brand stated:
The collection is a reflection of where we are as a people. In our little clusters, medium circles, big acquaintance networks, and ideal relationships whilst forgetting what it means to rely on our own identities of Felt.
It reminds us that though we are a part of a bigger picture, we are first in our circle. Although not fit in like the small pieces of a giant puzzle but in the completion of who we are. The idea of looking through another’s eyes to truly experience life as though our corneas refuse to wander past the places we’ve been, without the willingness to be lost in vision.
