The couturier, who is shaking things up, created two custom looks for Priscilla Ray for our March 2020 cover shoot.
First, a little black dress, which she described as ‘playful look with a vintage vibe’. “I like working with black, too much. And I’ve recently been experimenting with different kinds of sleeves and playing around with tulle,” she explained.
“It’s a playful look with a vintage vibe, I wanted to see how that would work on her.”
The second one, a navy blue dress. “This I made after meeting her at a party and sensed it would resonate with her personality,” she offered. “It was a mix of the vibe I got off her when we met and the Bantu aesthetic.”
Asiimwe’s roster of clients is growing, but she’s not about to lose herself. Malaika, one of her muses, describes her as “humble and very professional”.
