Kampala, Uganda — From August 6th to 12th, 2023, Afriart Gallery proudly hosted “Roots and Radiance,” a powerful solo exhibition by Nigerian visual artist and photographer Chidozie Oliver Maduka, marking his debut showcase in East Africa. The exhibition invited audiences into a vibrant and introspective visual dialogue centered on identity, heritage, and the quiet strength that exists within collective cultural memory.
“Roots and Radiance” is a compelling body of work that reflects Maduka’s deep exploration of African identity and ancestral connection through the lens of contemporary portraiture and symbolic storytelling. With an eye for emotive detail and striking composition, Maduka’s photographs offer more than aesthetics—they pulse with spiritual undertones, navigating the intersection of past, present, and future.
