Cannes Film Festival, arguably the biggest film festival on earth has officially banned selfies from the red carpet. Festival chief Thierry Frémaux told Deadline yesterday that the festival will ban all red carpet selfies at this year’s event.
“With (festival president) Pierre Lescure, we decided to totally ban them. At the top of the red carpet, the triviality and slowdown of flow provoked by the disorder of selfies ruins the quality of the red carpet, and thus the festival entirely.”
The festival has previously voiced a distaste for selfies, but this is the first time it has officially banned them.
