Buziga Hill Presents ‘Return to Sender’- Drop 6: An Enhancement of Styles that have been Evolving Since the Brand Launched

For RETURN TO SENDER, Buziga Hill redesigned second-hand clothes sourced from Owino Market in the capital Kampala. It is estimated that second-hand clothes make up 80% of all clothing purchases in the country and as such, have prevented the revival of local textile industries. BUZIGAHILL sends the redesigned, one-of-a-kind pieces back to their origins in the global North.

DROP06 is about home. Often elusive in the context of Uganda, home should be safety, love, freedom, comfort, and a celebration of true identity. Home is not like a house; static. It is always in the works. In line with this idea, DROP06 enhances styles that have been evolving since the brand launched in April 2022, like the four-panel hoodies and patchwork shirting.

In collaboration with the Milaya Project and the Yangani Women’s Group at Bidi Bidi refugee settlement in northwestern Uganda: DROP06 features wraps and blazers embellished with traditional South Sudanese embroidery depicting scenes of their homes and dream-like floral patterns.

DROP06 was photographed by Martin Kharumwa inside the brand’s new home at Spear House, a building imported in containers from West Germany during the early 80s. Take a look:
