Brian Ahumuza Honoured With Lifetime Achievement Award at 2021 Buzz Teenz Awards

Brian Ahumuza was last evening unveiled as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Buzz Teenz Awards. The founder and creative director of the annual Abryanz Style & Fashion Awards was honoured for his entrepreneurial and creative efforts.

Ahumuza is widely regarded as one of the architects of Uganda’s now colourful fashion and entertainment business. The 31-year-old star started out as a fashion stylist with Abryanz Collection, an upscale clothing store. He later founded Abryanz Style & Fashion Awards, an event that honours  excellence and outstanding achievement in the fashion industry in Uganda and Africa. It has since grown into one of the biggest red carpet events on the continent with appearances from Jidenna, Mafikizolo, Ozwald Boateng, David Tlale and more. Over the years, he has dabbled into other roles; from event stylist to brand influencer and king / queen maker. (He was on the panel of judges that chose Quinn Abenakyo as Miss Uganda. She went on to win the highly coveted title of Miss World Africa in 2018)

His latest role, however, is ‘Design  Director of Abryanz Clothing, his own clothing line, which launched this year.  According to the brand’s website, Abryanz Clothing is a line of ready-to-wear clothing made to appeal to those synonymous with the Abryanz brand. The line was received positively with a viral promotion that featured big name celebrities.

This is not the first time Ahumuza’s significant contribution to the fashion’s industry has been recognized. In 2015, he was chosen to front Coca-cola’s “Billion Reasons to Believe”, a pan-African TV ad campaign which aimed to capture the spirit of optimism and perseverance embodied by African youth. In 2016, he featured as one of Africa’s raising stars on CNN’s African Voices. In 2017, he was recognized by Young Achievers Awards as one of the achievers of the year.

The annual Buzz Teenz Awards honours excellence within the realm of entertainment as nominated and voted for by teens across the country.
