By  |

The Vlisco Fashion Fund is a contest established to support emerging African fashion designers in launching and strengthening their own fashion label. One winner will be chosen from each of the 7 participating countries and will receive funding equivalent to €5.000 and a two-week masterclass in the Netherlands.

The contest

The Vlisco Fashion Fund calls all upcoming African fashion designers, living in or outside Africa, to enter the contest by submitting their portfolio, CV and business plan through our online application form. Are you interested in applying? The application form opens on the 22nd of August and closes on the 16th September. All applications must be filled in using the online form and all relevant files submitted by the 16th September. If you need help with online application, please contact your local Vlisco store to enquire about in-store registration dates.

Following this, selected candidates will be invited for an interview, after which 3 candidates per country will be selected to go through to the final round. The candidates will be presented with a brief and will have one month to complete the assignment. From this, an international panel of judges will assess and choose the 7 winners of the Vlisco Fashion Fund. The judges are acclaimed professionals and entrepreneurs involved in the African fashion industry.

The prize

The 7 winners of the Vlisco Fashion Fund will receive funding of €5.000 and a two-week Masterclass in the Netherlands. The funding must be invested into the business to facilitate growth, help finance the set-up of a studio, new equipment etc. Each winner will also be invited to attend a masterclass in tailoring at ‘Meester Coupeur’: A renowned tailoring academy in Amsterdam, where many famous names of the Dutch fashion industry trained.
