Apple Cider Vinegar is one of those multi use ingredients in the kitchen. From helping to make a salad it can go to aid weight loss as well as fix skin issues. We’re going to talk about apple cider vinegar as a toner today.
Whenever we read about good skincare routines we always hear this pattern; cleanse, tone, moisturise. Well in between washing your face and lotioning it up is a really important step of toning, which is done to remove parts of oil, makeup and dirt that the cleanser might have left behind. it also is critical for fixing certain skin issues like rashes and small pimples, giving nourishment and extra hydration to the skin before the moisturiser can lock it all in.
Apple cider vinegar helps to keep the ph levels of your skin at an optimal level. It is known for its anti-inflammatory properties as it consists of acetic acid and alpha hydroxy acid. Acetic acid helps unplug blocked pores and alpha hydroxy acid helps to exfoliate the skin and help in smoothing and improving skin texture, and also helps to absorb excess oils of the skin.
Because it is acidic, apple cider vinegar could cause stinging sensations when applied directly to the skin. It is advised to dilute it in water so that it’s effects are mild on the skin. Grab 1 part apple cider vinegar with 3-4 parts water and mix. Use a cotton ball or swab to apply after washing your face, and you should be just fine.
