“I couldn’t have asked for a better man!” is how Charmaine describes Andrew. Their love began in February 2025, with a first date that stretched into five unforgettable hours, a perfect match from the very start. What started as effortless conversation soon blossomed into something deeper, a bond their families quickly recognized as meant to be.
Months later, just before Charmaine’s birthday, Andrew planned a proposal she never saw coming, filled with love, thoughtfulness, and the sweetest surprise.

Andrew and I met during the month of love in February 2025. Infact, our first date was a day after valentine’s day and it lasted five good hours! It was a brunch date at one of our favorite spots for brunch in New Jersey, Sofia Englewood (@sofiaenglewood). We just couldn’t stop talking and begrudgingly ended the date because the weather app warned us of a snowstorm that was approaching.
Ever since then we were inseparable and Andrew officially met my parents and family in June. I knew then that we were going to get engaged soon because both our families started discussing plans for the traditional ceremony. Fast forward to September, it was a week before my birthday and we had a trip to the Bahamas planned to celebrate me turning 30.
So naturally, I made sure my hair and nails were done for the trip. Andrew had mentioned we were going to go on a sunset cruise with his friends who work with him at a Big 4 audit firm and their partners. I figured I needed to dress up since I would be meeting some of them for the first time.
Imagine my shock when we arrive at the dock and Andrew informs me that his friends cancelled. I was so disappointed! Apparently the captain of the boat and the ‘crew’ who I later came to realise was the photographer were all in on it. Our good couple friends, Candice and Taku, also managed everything behind the scenes dropping off champagne, a bouquet of flowers and a charcuterie board to the boat before we arrived.
So Andrew gets on his knees as I’m looking at the NYC skyline and asks me to marry him while we’re standing at the bow of the boat and I was screaming a resounding YES due to shock and joy. I couldn’t have asked for a better man! God truly did His big one when he put us together and I give Him all the glory.
