Over 50 fashion designers, largely from Swahili-speaking nations and beyond, descended on Tanzania’s port city of Dar es Salaam for Swahili Fashion Week, the continent’s yearly fashion event. The annual fashion event, kicked off in Tanzania’s port city of Dar es Salaam on last Friday, the event also saw the awarding of different creatives in the fashion industry as voted by the public the in over 29 fashion categories.
Fashion and accessory designers showcased their talent and creativity to their clientele and the international fashion industry. Themed “Celebrating 15 years of Swahili Fashion Week”, Hassanali the founder said Swahili Fashion Week has been the premier creative platform for designers from Swahili speaking countries and beyond who showcase their collection to the global audience.
