Ugandan model Aamito Lagum was in New York to attend the 67th UN DPI/NGO Conference at the UN Head Quarters where she among other things, she met with OXFAM executive director Winnie Byanyima.

The fashion model, who has worked with high-heeled brands such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Marc Jacobs and more took to social media to share what the two ‘badass women’ discussed during their brief interaction.

“So Winnie just told me she is a fan, and she googles me and she is proud of me, I swear I am gonna burst out and cry. Side note , we also talked about #freebobiwine and the different roles we can play for a better Uganda,” she shared.

Lagum wore a black long-sleeved dress which featured an asymmetric hemline, which she paired with white pointy-toe pumps.

The Conference is an opportunity to discuss concrete ways to take the UN’s people-centered mandate forward, in closer partnership with civil society. The re-positioned UN development system will offer a platform for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to work more effectively with the UN to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development – and to communicate and advocate for it.
