A Ugandan Fashion Designer Is Set To Exhibit This Boda Boda Inspired Photo Story in New York and Amsterdam

Boda Boda Madness was a project inspired by Nairobi’s famous colourful motorcycle taxis known as Boda boda.  Nairobi boda boda riders use art and colour to pimp their bikes to stand out from the rest and in the end attract customers. These creative men paint their bikes with interesting designs and motifs, something that fascinated the designer. What they always miss though, are cool costumes to match with their colorful bikes.

Bobbin Case, a Ugandan fashion designer based in Nairobi sought inspiration from animals, football, movies and more to design costumes for 7 boba boda riders, who were then photographed for this fashion story. Each of them was given a name according to the inspiration of their costume. They included Madmax rider, Machette rider, Vibes Kartel rider, Ghost rider, Lion rider and Man U rider.

He collaborated with acclaimed photographer Jan Hoek on the project. Hoek is one of the most sought after photographers in Europe. His work has appeared in publications such as iD. The images are set to be exhibited to be in Amsterdam and New York.
