A guy’s guide to cold weather dressing

By  |

The rainy days are back, Kampala is extremely wet and life is almost becoming unbearable. While some people are  happy about the current weather trend, these cold and wet days (and nights)  are rubbing most people the wrong way. It’s time to battle away with them. We’re however going to do it in style.

Here are some of the go to items in such weather that will leave you as stylish as you might want to be. It’s cold yes but you still have to look hot.

1. Leather jacket

The coolest and most timeless item every man should own is a leather jacket. It’s one piece you will wear even when it’s warm just for the swagger of it. You can wear your leather jacket with anything from formal to casual. Hopping from one meeting to another will not be a wet mess.

Leather jackets are available downtown for as low as Shs 75,000.

2. Trench Coat

Most men here do not appreciate these coats. It could be a thin between how they are strapped and the night watch men that often wore them back in the day. They are warm, timeless and classic. They also come in a wide range of lengths and designs. Our friend Joram must be over the moon because he can wear his trench coats once again without a sweat.

Trench coats are available at Abryanz collections going for Shs 200,000

3. Cardigan

Cardigans are simple cool and very wearable. They are the go to items for the average young man probably in school. They ooze swagger and finesse. Opt for those with a bit of detail such as stripes and prints. If you work in a corporate environment, keep away from the detailed cardigans.

4. Leather shirts

For a night out or house party, it is the right time to put your leather shirt to good use. Wear your leather and keep warm in the cold night. You won’t need shisha or heavy drinks to keep the body warm that I promise you. Lest the leather isn’t legit.

5. Styling

You can as well wear your normal clothing but style them differently. Dark colours such as black are always good at keeping the body warm. Leave the bright clothes home.

Buttoning up is also a cool way to patch up your look during these cold days. You can button up your polo t shirt and finish it up with a bow tie. It’s simple cool and stylish.

Switch your beloved chinos with denim pants. Your jeans have gotten their time to shine once again.

If you are the kind of man that has a healthy wardrobe, leave low cut shoes and opt for ankle boots. Such shoes can manage to traverse the soggy ground without getting damaged. They are also a lot warmer than the latter.

For the love of the neck tie, wear one. It will come in handy when you get another heavy down pour during the day.
