Sylvia Namutebi Alibhai represented Uganda at the 43rd edition of Mrs. World in Las Vegas. The women and youth empowerment advocate ended her race in the top 15, a stellar performance considering that there were 57 women from across the globe vying for the title.
37-year-old Shaylyn Ford from America walked away with crown, with Jaclyn Stapp from Jordan and first runner-up and Debanjali Kamstra from United Arab Emirates as second runner-up.
Fashion is a such a big element of the competition, contestants pull all stops to showcase their culture and heritage for a chance to win the Best National Costume title. While she didn’t win, Alibhai put on a show with her collection of stunning outfits, all custom created by designers from Uganda. Through every single look, she carried Africa, Uganda and her modern style on her sleeve.
