Ayo Edebiri will make her debut this week in Pixar’s Inside Out 2, an animated movie set in the mind of a young child. The film features various characters who control emotions like joy, sadness, anger, and disgust. Edebiri will voice a character representing envy.
At the movie’s premiere in Los Angeles, Edebiri wore a custom outfit from Bottega Veneta’s pre-fall 2024 collection. She had on aquamarine blazer and matching shorts, just like the color of her animated character, paired with a celadon silk shirt and Cha-Cha mules. Her outfit, with its soft colors, showed that she has transformed the traditional image of envy from something negative to something more positive.
“I think a lot of that root emotion is actually adoration,” the actor explained on the red carpet. “And so I’m trying to come from that place of positivity to kind of spin the idea of the character on its head.” People (or at least adults) will glean more about the nuances of human emotion from watching a single episode of The Bear – in which Edebiri plays an ambitious sous chef working in the psychologically-confronting landscape of a male-dominated kitchen. “She’s going to feel a lot [of emotions] so tune in,” she said of the show’s upcoming third season. “I’m excited for people to see the episode that I directed. I love the crew and I love our cast and so getting to work with them on that level was really moving.”
