“Starting The Next Chapter of Our life is all That Mattered” – Enoch & Josephine

Their wedding reception was a small luncheon attended by 25 guests!

Enoch Musaasizi Kazimba, a pilot & flight Instructor wedded Josephine Babirye Shanice Musasizi, a data analyst in a scientific function which held on Saturday April 2020 at Namirembe Cathedral officiated by the Rt. Rev Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira, the bishop of Namirembe Diocese. They later hosted a small luncheon attended by 25 guests at their home.

Enoch and Josephine met through a mutual friend and have known each other for 8 years.

The proposal

It happened last year in June at the Botanical gardens in Entebbe. We had gone for a photoshoot along with two other friends. It was a wonderful surprise when he proposed. It’s exactly how I had wanted it. Thereafter, we dined at Protea hotel, Entebbe. It was very beautiful.

Traditional wedding and kukyala?

The Kukyala was done last year in May. We had about 50 people. Our introduction on the other hand, held this year on 16th April. It was a scientific event with just under 15 people. Even though only 4 ‘bakko’ came, we still enjoyed ourselves. It was a relaxed ceremony, small and beautiful. I loved every single bit of it. We didn’t drag anything because we had to dispatch early enough for the guests to be home before curfew time.

Why a scientific Wedding? You could have postponed.

We had already planned to wed this year. We began planning our wedding last year and the dates had been set for both the introduction and wedding. The church had also been booked for us on the 18th April 2020. The presidential directive on mass gatherings found us just a month away from the pre-set dates. Most of the preparation was under way. Our minds were already made up.

Postponing wasn’t a wise thing to do because of the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19. We had planned for 1000 people. This wasn’t about to happen even in the near future.

It was a decision we made together. Not for a second did we think twice about it. We were on the same page throughout the entire decision making.

Reception

Yes. We had a luncheon at home with about 25 people. We had Angie’s décor beautify our space. The theme colors were white and green. I didn’t really have intentions to wow the guests. My intention was to be as happy as I could be but also have the guests comfortable. I wanted to enjoy my wedding and let it be about me and what I like. Also, I was simply ready to get married and start the next chapter of my life with Enoch.

Cake?

Rumi cake shop in Ntinda baked our cake. Flavors were fruit with chocolate fudge for the centerpiece. There were some fruit cakes to give away too.

Fashion

The gown was designed and tailored by Kwagala Judith. Such a gifted lady! She also did my changing dresses for both the introduction and wedding. Enoch was dressed by Creative hub Uganda located in Ntinda. They did an awesome job given that the he didn’t even get a chance to fit in. My hair and makeup was done by Aifaz makeup studio. Enoch was groomed by Lord’s Men Hair Salon Wandegeya.

No!😩

Best moments

I think one of the best moments of the day was walking down the aisle to meet the love of my life knowing we were going to be husband and wife. Actually it’s hard picking out best moments because the entire ceremony felt so special. It was a short ceremony given the small numbers and curfew hours but those few hours were all special. The joy and happiness in the atmosphere and the relaxation was everything a bride looks forward to on her big day. Every moment was special in its own way, so I can say the whole ceremony was the best moment.

If there was a chance to have a big wedding, would you do it all over again?

No. I’m not a big wedding kind of person. Small and intimate works best with me.

Did you have challenges?

Yes we did. I would say the biggest challenge we faced at the time was movement of people. We didn’t have many options yet even the few service providers we zeroed down to needed to be transported to the venue. All of this with curfew in the picture, made logistics one of the biggest challenges we faced.
