When: They held their wedding ceremony on 28th June, 2020
Where: Fairway Hotel in Kampala
How they met
I first saw her at my sister’s wedding in 2013. Ofcourse she didn’t pick interest in, although I liked her right away. Then in 2016 we met again at Makerere University as she was applying for her degree. We became good friends. We started during her second semester of her first year.
Planning the wedding
Unlike the kwanjula, planning our wedding was really tricky. After the introduction we set our wedding date to 28th June as we bought time to financially reset ourselves because we wanted a big function. And then came Covid-19, which disrupted every plan we had. We had to plan for a scientific wedding.
We had just two weeks to plan. We also had to cut the number of guests to have at the event, which meant letting some of our loved ones that they couldn’t witness our big day. Meeting and engaging with service providers was also a challenge.
Despite everything that was going on, we actually had so much fun. Our guests had such a vibe, it was evident that they hadn’t had a good party in a long time. We danced from the time we got to the reception till the end. The fact that we had just family and a few close friends at the event, we weren’t nervous at all.
Our dream is to grow together as we building each other and of course start a family.
To future couples planning to get married, I would love to say that life after the wedding day is more important than the event. You need to spend wisely. Actually, I think this scientific wedding thing should be the new normal even after the pandemic. It’s a real life-saver.
