The April 2020 Issue

The Overwhelming Feeling of Walking into April!

By  |

These are tough times! Tough on us! Tough on our economy! Tough on our health! Tough on our jobs!

However, as we usher in a new month, allow me to say that I’m impressed. Times like these test what we are truly made of, and so far, we aren’t doing so badly. We have shown our resilience during a time when it might be easier to just give up. From compliance to guidelines, all the way to the innovation of a few others, I’m not worried about where we shall be in the next 14 or so days; to the contrary, I’m excited.

It’s impressive how the human race has come together; supporting, restoring hope, entertaining and comforting one another. Seeing how much love and (well-distanced) support people are piling on to each other is heartwarming, and assures me that we are headed to a point of healing.

If all this makes you a little nervous, I would suggest you cast eyes upon your brothers and sisters who are challenged. The challenge is to find a new path; for as everything else that we know is seemingly dead. Now is the time to explore all those opportunities you never thought would work, and those you abandoned 3 years back due to commitments. A lake that doesn’t flow often ends up stagnant or dead. There should be new life to be harnessed out of this crisis.

This is why the theme for this month is Dark Victory. While it is a bumpy road, with no end in hindsight, we shall emerge victorious. Let’s have our eyes peeled on the marvelous end, a day when we can pour back into the streets to celebrate our victory. That day is coming. If you don’t believe it so easily, allow us to believe for you; we shall get through this.

We salute the soldiers at the frontline of this battle; the doctors in the hospitals, fighting day and night to save lives, the government that is trying their absolute best to contain the pandemic, and the service providers; the food providers, market vendors and everyone else in between, who is taking a risk to keep the nation alive. They are the real heroes. So are you, for doing your part.
