John Iwueke is the first male model to be featured on African Woman magazine’s new website. The Nigerian model who is in Uganda for school is one of the most sought after faces in town. His body is ripped, his iconic walk on the runway is unforgettable and he’s a warm approachable young man.
Here he shares his 7 essentials for getting a model perfect body.
1. Enough Sleep
I sleep about 7 hrs a day. This is so essential for a guy looking to gain a lean physique.
2. A proper diet
I don’t eat what you would prefer to have for lunch. My sources of carbs are slow digesting foods such as oats, brown rice, whole wheat etc. I don’t take any form of soda or alcohol unless on rare occasions, I eat a lot chicken, fish, and egg white and I do take some fruits too. The logic behind this is that slow digesting carbs are not stored as body fat unlike fast digesting carbs. Eat more protein for more lean muscle growth. In other words I eat like a pro.
3. Dedicated to my work out routine
I am dedicated to my workout routine and I am improving everyday. I’m not the same way I was two months ago. I strive to learn new ways of keeping in shape through Flex magazine. Just search for it on Facebook and follow some of their tips. It is actually for bodybuilders but very helpful.
4. High intensity cardio routines
I incorporate a high intensity cardio in my workouts. I skip a lot and trust me it is more effective than the jogging people do on the streets. Jogging is an endurance cardio so would only make you lose weight just like the Olympic marathon runners but skipping makes you burn more fat and tone your body. So if u must jog its better you sprint maybe for 1minute then do it for 5 mins then sprint again just like that.
5. Full body workouts are the real deal
I’m sorry to say this but it doesn’t make sense to train the arms or chest all your life. You have to opt for full body workouts. I use my entire body equally so I that the look is balanced. With this you can workout even while watching TV or on the couch relaxing.
6. Water
I drink a lot of water, I cant lie to you that it is easy but it has really helped me. I guess you know the importance of hydration.
7. Belief
I am dedicated to my workout routine. I believe in improving everyday so I always set my goals and achieve them. I believe in the saying “stand for what is right even if it means standing alone“!
