4 benefits of going makeup free
Looking for an easy way to boost your skin care? Follow the lead of many celebs and go makeup free. No make up Monday should turn to No makeup everyday!
Even if you can’t imagine going without cosmetics during the work week, consider giving skin a vacation on weekends – two days is the least time some experts say can reap benefits. Here are four benefits that allowing skin to breathe can offer:
- Clearer, healthier skin: Giving skin exposure to fresh oxygen and freeing pores of clogging products may be one of the best things you can do to improve your skin. Wearing makeup can actually cause the very blemishes you are trying to conceal – and so a vicious cycle begins. Wearing makeup less often may clear your skin to a point that you don’t need as complicated of a cosmetics regimen.
- Boost self-confidence: Going makeup free truly gives you a chance to become comfortable in your own skin. You may find that others don’t even notice that you’ve skipped makeup – making it seem a lot less important. While wearing makeup as a mask to face the world is psychologically unhealthy, we’re all for it as a form of fun self-expression. Just know the difference between the two.
- Save time: Imagine what you might do with the time you spend applying makeup every morning and removing it each evening, not to mention time shopping for the stuff.
- Save money: Simply skipping makeup a couple of days per week can make a difference in how much product you go through – just a weekend hiatus could lower usage by nearly 30%.
When on your makeup break, be sure to give skin a cleansing and nourishing boost with a clay-based mask. cleanse and exfoliate regularly. Keep skin hydrated with a light moisturizer. If you must wear some kind of makeup on your skin vacation, keep it simple – lip balm and mascara with concealer sparingly applied. Last, always wear sunscreen when outdoors. There’s never a vacation from sunscreen!
