Best of 2019
15 Of The Best Songs of 2019, According to Satisfashion UG
While the year went along, different artists fought for first place to have the most playable jams around. Well, here is our list of the top songs of 2019, in no particular order:
1 Sima – Vip Jemo
Not only is this jam catchy, the dance moves in this one are for everyone to try (and miserably fail at) in front of their mirror. Only the brave/skilled will manage this in public.
2. 49-99 – Tiwa Savage
Savage at her best, this song was an entire VIIIIBE! It was dripping in style and boss bitch attitude, it couldn’t miss out this year’s list.
3. Gutujja – B2C ft Rema
The song that started it all, Gutujja was the first hint that Rema was finally moving on from renown love nigga Eddy Kenzo. Not to mention it genuinely has great melodies, seeing as we loved it before all the drama went up in flames. The combination of Rema and the guys from B2C was a match made in heaven, they really should make more music in the future.
4. Sunday – Slick Stuart and Dj Roja ft. Tonix
This was one for the eyes! this song, artfully styled and general visual candy is one we cannot leave out of this list. The way they celebrate dark skin in this song which is the most flattering vibe with an opening line like, “Katonda yatwala obudde, yakujjuza, weyamala yawumula” This song was a celebration of all things black and beautiful and some of us can’t get enough.
5. Jangu Ondabe – Spice Dianah
This is one of those songs that once it gets into your head, you can’t shake it out. It has that perfect mix between laid back and clingy, since Spice is basically begging her man to go see her. We’ve all been there, no?
6. By The Way – Vinka
Another love song from our person of the year, Vinka. She released 12 music videos this year, one for every month of the year, and if that’s not dedication, I don’t know what is. She had so many jams we could choose from but this one was the creme of the crop.
7. Baby Papa – Karole Kasiita ft Daddy Andre
This song is one of those that just grows on you. When it first came out it was more interesting visually but after a few watches it caught on, the way Daddy Andre brings in his laid back vibe to this cute song about having babies out of wedlock. Let’s hope laid back was not his take on fatherhood in real life, but for this song, it was amusing!
8. John Cena – Sho Madjozi
Upbeat. Colourful. Fun. This song was so many things but boring isn’t one of them. Granted, I didn’t understand 80% of what she was saying but just like the real John Cena – we can’t see her… lyrics? I guess? But it is easy on the ears, and the kind of beat that makes you move your legs in a way they are not used to.
9. Wire Wire – Bebe Cool
Love him or hate him, you cannot deny the production value of Bebe Cool songs, this one in particular. He might not mind the bottles you throw at him since he has a great investment to make such litty videos happen. We stan an enterprising king!
10. Headmaster -Maurice Kirya
Most times when people are making a song with a greater cause in mind it ends up sounding preachy…. This, wasn’t that kind of song. The way Kirya expertly crafted in the message of safe sex into a catchy tune was one that we will stan for a while, and because y’all like to play too much he needed to say it!
11. Sikikukweka – Daddy Andre
This song is not only great to listen to (seriously, Daddy Andre’s voice is soooo…. daddy!) but it is also a craving of quite a number of women in relationships today. No girl wants to be hidden because the young man is still playing games, and in this song he declares how *done* he is with hiding her. Who knows? Maybe if Kenzo hadn’t hidden Rema so much he would still be with his baby mama? But that’s a story for another day…
12. Baby – Joeboy
This song is the cutest. Its a lovey dovey track with a dancey beat and the cutest animations. We couldn’t decide whether to place the song “Beginning” and this one, but we might suggest watching all the animations by EmPawa on these Joeboy songs because they are a mini series! Hilarious!
13. Shea Butter Baby – Ari Lennox ft J. Cole
This one was for the naturalistas in the building! A sensual track, but also, heavily relatable when Ari belted the lines, “shea butter baby, f***ing up your pillows” because FACTS. Natural hair which is well fed with shea butter will have you with oily pillowcases, and if you have a boo with natural hair, just accept that fact. Also J.Cole? Zaddy af.
14. Tukwatagane – John Blaq
This was maybe John Blaq’s claim to fame, I could be mistaken. But with almost 2 Million views on YouTube, you could say it caught on. He has a hypnotic voice that can make any girl burp up her number. Especially when he has shades on.
15. Case – Teni
This one, even though other people were tired of it, some people in the office (cough, cough, Lyn) are obsessed with this jam. With the soulful voice that is belting out how deep her love for this person is, there was no way this song could miss out on the list. Also, Lyn is holding me at gunpoint, so it has to happen.
