Teddy Nabisenke, a Visual Artist Using Wearable Art To Create Awareness About Social Issues!

By  |

Meet Teddy Nabisenke, a jewellery designer who finds visual art as an appropriate language to create awareness about social issues such as human trafficking, family planning and HIV/ AIDS. She pours her heart (& art) and soul on her beautiful pieces which are available to shop.

Her installation Okutambula Kulaba Okudda Kunyumya (If you’ve travelled you’ll have a story to tell) was directed at both the victims of human trafficking and the governments who are indifferent to the realities of it. She also dressed two women in sacks and ropes in her fashion series Family Planning, the sack being symbolic of children and the rope representing the contraceptives.

Nabisenke is a graduate of Industrial Fine Art from Margret Trowel School of Industrial and Fine Art.
